Before embarking, check the weather conditions. Tenerife and the Canaries are swept by two types of wind. The trade winds (north-easterly) from April to October, and the Calima (Sirocco) from the Sahara. In summer, the wind can blow in strong gusts (venturi effect), making navigation between the islands sometimes complicated.

When is the best time to sail in Tenerife?

Although sailing in Tenerife is pleasant all year round, the best time to charter a yacht in Tenerife and the Canaries is between October and February. In this season, the trade winds are milder and the Azores anticyclone protects the archipelago.
