Information you need to know
There are three options for surfing in Fuerteventura. The first is a 4-hour course over one day. The second is an 8-hour course spread over 2 days, and the third is 3 x 4-hour courses over 3 days. If you simply want to discover surfing, half a day is enough. If you want to dive right in, 3 half-days is a must!
The activity is supervised by Corralejo Surf School, a local agency with many years’ experience in the field. So they’re perfectly placed to accompany you on this exceptional adventure!
Classes can be held in English, Spanish or Italian. The minimum age is 8. You’ll also need to be able to swim. Surfing equipment (wetsuits, boards) will be provided by the organizer.
The course of the activity
The activity starts at the surf school’s premises, at the following address: Corralejo Surf School: Calle Pejín, 2, 35660 Corralejo, Las Palmas. You’ll then head off to the beach of the day accompanied by your instructor.
He’ll teach you how to surf and everything else about surfing. Before getting in the water, you’ll start with warm-ups and stretching, then learn the basic safety rules. Your instructor will then show you the basics on land. Once that’s covered, you’ll learn to analyze the sea. Conditions vary from beach to beach, depending on tides, breakers and many other factors. With this information in mind, you’ll acquire the skills you need to become an independent surfer!
Once you’ve covered all the theory, you’re ready to take to the water. Your instructor will accompany you throughout the activity to ensure you perfect your skills. You’ll learn the different techniques for paddling, standing up, catching waves and more.

Information you need to know
Two options are available for this activity: a two-day course, with a total of 8 hours, and a three-day course, for a total of 11 hours.
The activity is organized by Redshark, a well-known local organization. It’s also perfectly reliable to accompany you on this wonderful discovery! One instructor supervises a maximum of 3 participants, so you benefit from small-group instruction.
The activity is available from age 12. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Redshark will also provide you with all the equipment you need for the activity: wetsuit, kite, etc. All you need to bring is a towel, water and sunscreen.
The course of the activity
Business starts at Redshark’s Corralejo premises at the following address: Calle Pedro y Guy Vandaele, 35660 Corralejo, Las Palmas. You’ll then head for the beach of the day. Indeed, the spot can change depending on wind conditions. Fortunately, these conditions are very good all year round on Fuerteventura. Kite courses can be held on Fuerteventura’s northern beaches, on the east coast at Corralejo or on the west coast, towards El Cotillo. The organization will take you to the spot of the day.
On the first day of the activity, you’ll learn the basics and safety rules. You’ll get to know your equipment, learn about wind analysis and, above all, how to set up your equipment. You’ll also start flying a training kite.
On the second day, you’ll finally learn to control a large kite, which you’ll use on the water. Your instructor will teach you various techniques: re-launching from the water, self-rescue, waterstart. Then you’ll be ready to take to the water.
On the third day, you’ll be able to practice in the water. You’ll put to good use all the knowledge and techniques you’ve learned over the previous two days.
Windsurfing lessons for beginners in Matas Bay

Information you need to know
The activity is managed by Matas Bay – Kite & Windsurf Center. This local agency is perfectly placed to accompany you in your discovery of windsurfing! Three options are available: 3-hour, 6-hour or 9-hour lessons.
Classes can be held in French, English or German. The minimum age is 10. Minors require parental consent. You also need to weigh more than 45 kilos to take part in this activity. You’ll also need to be able to swim.
Please note that all necessary windsurfing equipment will be provided by the organizer. All you need to bring is a swimsuit, sun cream, sunglasses, water and any snacks you may need, plus a towel.
The course of the activity
The activity will start at the Matas Bay Kite & Windsurfschool, located at the following address: Calle los Sabandeños s/n, 35627 Costa Calma, Las Palmas. You’ll then head to Matas Bay in Costa Calma, one of the best surf, kitesurf and windsurf spots in Fuerteventura. Here you’ll find exceptional conditions to start your windsurfing training!
The 3-hour beginners’ course will introduce you to windsurfing. Your instructor will teach you the basics of the sport, introduce you to the sail and give you a few exercises to familiarize yourself with it.
With the 6-hour course, spread over two half-days, you’ll put your new knowledge into practice. In particular, you’ll be practicing navigation and steering skills. Finally, the 9-hour course will enable you to become an intermediate windsurfer. You’ll then be able to go your own way! If you really want to learn how to windsurf, the 9-hour course is just what you need. However, it will require 3 full half-days.
