How about a trip to the U.S. this year? Discover the Great Lakes region and where to stay in Minneapolis!
Located in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Minnesota, bordering Canada and about 250 kilometers south of Lake Superior, Minneapolis is one of Minnesota’s largest metropolitan areas.
With an estimated population of 413,651 in 2016 and a total urban area of over 3.4 million, it is the 16th largest conurbation in the country. Irrigated by the Mississippi River, the city’s history is linked to the Sioux, the famous Native American tribe present on the territory long before the arrival of European settlers in the 17th century. Once an agricultural and industrial center, the city’s economic activity is now focused on the pharmaceutical, paramedical, financial and cultural sectors.

Central Minneapolis
Minneapolis is often referred to as America’s best-kept tourist secret. New York, Los Angeles or Miami overshadow Minneapolis, yet the city boasts large bodies of water, waterfalls and much to offer its guests. Nicknamed the « City of Lakes », it’s littered with parks and green spaces in every neighborhood.
Central Minneapolis is home to the business district and the Skyline’s skyscrapers, as well as numerous concert bars, restaurants, theaters (including the famous Hennepin Theatre) and the famous covered tunnels that allow you to cross the city without leaving the building to avoid the extreme cold of winter or the scorching heat of summer.

Nicollet Island
Nicollet Island, a small island on the Mississippi River, is like being in a small town, with Victorian-style houses and multiple paths to walk along the water’s edge. It offers a beautiful view of the city and the Saint-Anthony Falls Dam (waterfalls said to have appeared 10,000 years ago).
Here, too, the city is all about art, culture and music. Numerous concerts are held in the amphitheatre and the island pavilion. The district is also famous for the huge Grain Belt brewery, established in 1941.
