Lodève center
A city of art and history and former textile capital for 200 years (17th to 19th centuries), Lodève lies on an ancient Gallo-Roman trade route. It is known as the capital of the Hérault « highlands ».

If all the hotels in Lodève are fully booked, or if you’ve done all the touring in the city, Clermont-l’Hérault could be the next stop on your itinerary: just 20-25 minutes from Lodève, you’ll find Lac du Salagou, Gorges de l’Hérault and Pont du Diable at Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert. Nearby is another of the region’s must-see attractions: the Cirque de Mourèze. In Clermont-l’Hérault, a stroll to the top of the Château de Clermont – built between the 12th and 16th centuries to control the Hérault valley – is a must. The only remains, listed as a historic monument since 1927, are the fortifications, the keep known as the Tour Guilhem and two vaulted rooms.
