Where to stay in Colmar

Are you about to visit Alsace and its wonders? Here’s our guide to the best places to stay in Colmar!

Located in the south of Alsace, in the Haut-Rhin department, the beautiful city of Colmar is the region’s third-largest commune, after Mulhouse and Strasbourg. A medieval and Renaissance town, Colmar boasts an impressive architectural, historical and cultural heritage. It was once a city of the Empire, and was at the heart of many conflicts before becoming part of France.

Remnants of these eventful or prosperous periods are numerous: the Collégiale Saint-Martin, medieval houses, the Théâtre municipal, several convents and, above all, the canals, otherwise known as « Little Venice » for their resemblance to those of the Italian city! In addition to these historic buildings, we recommend a visit to the Musée Unterlinden or the replica of the Statue of Liberty. And take advantage of Colmar’s geographical location, at the center of the Alsace vineyards and close to the Vosges foothills, to enjoy the wonderful local wines and discover the region’s cellars : Colmar isn’t called the « Alsace wine capital » by chance!

Choosing the right accommodation in Colmar is essential to making the most of your stay in this beautiful Alsatian town. So where to stay in Colmar? To help you plan your trip, we’ve put together a guide to the best places to stay in Colmar!
