The second-largest city in the Alpes-Maritimes département (06), located in the Nice urban area, Antibes is a town of 75,000 inhabitants perched on the northern edge of Cap d’Antibes, a seafront facing the Baie des Anges. Antibes has a long history dating back to the Iron Age, with traces of occupation excavated around the castle and cathedral. The town has thus survived the ages to become one of the most famous seaside resorts in the Alpes-Maritimes. Looking for a place to stay in Antibes? From Cap d’Antibes to downtown Antibes, via the touristy Juan-les-Pins district, you’ll find plenty of places to stay in Antibes. Despite the hordes of tourists who flock here every summer, the town center still offers plenty of opportunities to experience authentic Provence at the foot of the blue waves.
To help you prepare for your next vacation, we’ve put together a non-exhaustive list of the best places to stay in Antibes.
Downtown
Antibes, set on the Mediterranean Sea between Nice and Cannes, boasts a 25-kilometer coastline of fine sand and pebble beaches, from which stretch luxurious villas and charming hotels. 2,500 years ago, the city was known as Antipolis, a small Greek trading post. The old town has preserved its popular soul, an atmosphere you can breathe in as you wander through the squares, lanes, wash-houses and markets steeped in history. The town center boasts a number of hotels within walking distance of the town’s monuments and must-see sites: the Musée des Arts et traditions Populaires, the Musée de la Carte Postale, the Musée de l’Ecole, the Musée d’Archéologie – from which you can take a photo of the old town – the Musée de l’Absinthe, the Musée Picasso, the Marché Provençal, the Plage de la Gravette, the Quai des Milliardaires and the port. And don’t forget to take a stroll along the Promenade de l’Amiral-de-Grasse, one of the district’s must-sees.

The seaside resort is a popular tourist destination for thousands of holidaymakers every year, who come to enjoy its beaches, lively nightlife, dreamy climate and the famous Jazz à Juan-les-Pins festival (among other festivals). To see the world and party in Juan-les-Pins, head for the Pinède, the Partouche casino, the Garden Beach Hôtel and Avenue Guy de Maupassant: this is the bar and restaurant district. Cap d’Antibes
Perched on the southern tip of the Antibes peninsula, the Cap homonyme is covered in Aleppo pines and is still largely untouched by mass tourism. Why is this so? Because, although it has been known since antiquity, it was forgotten and obsolete until the 19th century. Rediscovered by the bourgeoisie at the end of the 19th century, Cap d’Antibes became a new resort town for the bourgeois elite, contrasting today with the popular soul of the town center. If you want to stay in luxury villas in Cap d’Antibes, while touring the peninsula to the sound of cicadas and the scent of pine and eucalyptus trees, you’ll need to have the means: rents will be high!
