Is Sydney Airport open at night?

Sydney Airport is not open continuously. Terminal 1 is open from 3 am to 11 pm. Terminals 2 and 3 are open from 4 a.m. to 11 p. m. If, unfortunately, you arrive at the airport within these times. You’ll have to wait in the area before security checks. What’s more, you’ll probably be disappointed by the facilities on offer at Sydney Airport. Few seats, with armrests, few electrical outlets, no 24-hour catering service, but free Wi-Fi. Showers are also available, but you’ll need to bring your own towel and soap.

Depending on your needs, you can find two at the airport, one in the international terminal and one in the domestic zone. Of course, there are many more around. Nevertheless, hotel rates fluctuate, depending on the time of year and how busy they are. So don’t hesitate to use a booking site. This will enable you to compare prices and find the best deal.

Rydges Sydney Airport

This hotel is located in the international zone of the airport, directly opposite Terminal 1. This hotel provides a free shuttle service. At least, if you need to get to Terminal 2 or 3 for a domestic flight.

And for those who need a room during the day, Rydges offers this service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Equipped with a gym, restaurant and bar, this hotel is ideal for room service.

Mantra Hotel Sydney Airport

Also in the airport area, this hotel is convenient for those with a domestic flight. The Mantra Hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from Terminals 2 and 3.

Rooms and bathrooms perfectly equipped for sleeping near the airport. This hotel even offers a wake-up service. What’s more, there’s an express check-out so you don’t lose any time before your flight.

Ibis Budget Sydney Airport

If you decide to sleep near the airport, you won’t be considered part of the airport perimeter. However, you’ll still be close to terminals 2 and 3.

For AUD$7 (€4) per person per trip, you can take a shuttle bus. It leaves every thirty minutes. It will pick you up in the middle of the area reserved for domestic flights, as well as in terminal 1 for international flights. The shuttle runs from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport

Equipped with a gym and outdoor swimming pool, this hotel also offers a shuttle service. This operates via Super Shuttle, for AUD$8.5 (€3 ) per person per trip. To get to the airport, the service operates from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m. And to get there, the first departure is at 6.50 a.m.

Citadines Connect Sydney Airport

Also known as the Felix Hotel, the Citadines Connect also uses Super Shuttle for transfers to and from the various terminals.

This hotel blends modern style with the 60s, and is equipped with high-speed WiFi. What’s more, you’ll find a 24-hour grocery store and even an open-air cinema on the roof.

Kingford-Smith Airport is in a densely populated area very close to Sydney. So, if you don’t want to sleep close to the airport, you can easily stay in one of the communities that make up the Greater Sydney area. However, the many bays and the Pacific Ocean that surround it can limit access to the airport. So beware of journey times.

Easily accessible by public transport, Sydney has plenty to offer visitors of all ages. The architecture of the Opera House, a visit to the Royal Gardens, the cobbled streets of The Rocks. But also St. Mary’s Cathedral, all within easy reach of each other.

If you decide to head a little further east, Bondi is a beautiful town. The airport is just a few kilometers from Bondi, so you can easily reach it by cab or public transport.

Sleeping near the airport isn’t as boring as it sounds, especially if you take advantage of Bondi beach, certainly Australia’s most famous. You can stroll along this kilometre-long beach of fine sand and turquoise water. What’s more, it’s lined with restaurants, bars and surf stores. Time for a stroll? Then take a stroll along the six kilometers of coastline between Bondi Beach and Bronte Beach.

And who knows, you might even have the opportunity to watch a surfing competition.

Redfern and Surry Hill

These two side-by-side towns are convenient for getting to the airport, especially by train. In fact, Redfern railway station is a major station in the Citytrail network, allowing you to sleep close to the airport. It is also connected to the Airport Link.

If you’ve got a bit of time on your hands, take a stroll through Moore Park, Sydney’s sporting mecca. Golf, cricket, rugby and horse-riding are just some of the activities on offer in this impressively large park. In the middle of it all, you can even see the Fox Australia TV studios, a stage for concerts and cinema.

Where can I park at Sydney Airport?

Sydney Airport has a number of pay-and-display parking lots, depending on proximity and length of stay. They range from free drop-offs (for less than 15 minutes) to long-stay, open-ended parking.

Some airlines offer valet parking and vehicle cleaning, sometimes with their own parking lot.
