Havana nightlife
The nightlife in Havana, Cuba’s capital, is thriving and the choice of venues, especially for live music, will keep you moving and hold your attention throughout your vacation. The social scene starts to liven up around 10pm, and clubs and bars tend to close when the last customer leaves, usually between 2 and 3am. In general, Cubans like to look their best, especially when going out, so put on your best clothes for a night out in Havana. Indeed, many clubs have a strict but normal dress code: no shorts, swimsuits or flip-flops.
Havana’s bars
Here’s a list of some of Havana’ s best bars for a drink:
El Floridita
White rum, lime juice and sugar, the daiquiri is the classic cocktail first created in Havana, but by whom and where exactly, who knows? The history of the famous drink is as hazy as Ernest Hemingway was when he drank fifteen of them in a single afternoon at El Floridita. « My mojito at La Bodeguita and my daiquiri at El Floridita, » he used to say. Seventy years later, the bar is still one of the most popular places to try the Cuban cocktail.
