Belgrade nightlife
Who would have bet that Belgrade, after its recent tragic past, would be one of Europe’s (and especially Eastern Europe’s) premier party destinations? Today, in any case, Belgrade’s nightlife enjoys an excellent reputation among night owls, and it’s no wonder it’s nicknamed the « Barcelona of the Balkans » in reference to the effervescent vibrancy of the beautiful Catalan city. Here’s your guide to Belgrade’s nightlife.
The best places to go out in Belgrade
There are a few places worth visiting if you want to relax after a day’s sightseeing in Belgrade. Many bars and cafés with different styles open until midnight or one o’clock in the morning. Here are a few streets or districts to visit:

Obilićev Venac
This street is right in the center of town, and despite its many bars and clubs with large terraces, there aren’t necessarily any really good bars here. Quantity does not equal quality. Nevertheless, it remains a central part of Belgrade’s nightlife.
Strahinića Bana
Locally known as » Silicon Valley » (you’ll find out why), this street is home to some of Belgrade’s chicest bars. People come here mainly to see and be seen. You’ll rub shoulders with local stars and the well-dressed on this street.
Njegoševa
Njegoševa Street is lined with a series of whimsical cafés and bars, and is an excellent place to enjoy a drink after a shopping spree. In fact, it lies between two shopping areas (Kralja Milana Street and Kralja Aleksandra Boulevard).
Skadarlija district
There’s a good choice of restaurants and cafés in and around Skardarska Street.
The best clubs and Splavovi
One curiosity you’ll appreciate in Belgrade is the Splavovi, floating nightclubs/bars (barges) along the banks of the Danube and Save rivers. You’ll find them everywhere, and they’re the best places to go out in Belgrade, really! But where do you find them?

Zemun quay
Zemun Quay (or Zemunski kej) is home to a multitude of splavovi, barges on which nightclubs and discotheques are located. These clubs don’t open until midnight, so the best time to go is around 1am. You’ll find them all on Kej Oslobodenja street, which is actually the promenade along the Danube. There’s no entrance fee (or it’s very low) and no dress code is required. The best splavovi are Amsterdam River Club, Acapulco, or Sound, but you’ll find others. You can do several to test out the different atmospheres. Don’t forget to check out the banks of the river Save too.
Ada Ciganlija
It’s another district and island that lies on the Save River. It’s home to many restaurants and bars, especially in summer, and this is another asset that Belgrade offers here for you to enjoy the nightlife.
