Christmas and New Year’s celebrations usually mean hearty, alcoholic meals. To avoid the side effects of the notorious hangover and give your liver a rest, find out which foods and drinks to choose and which to avoid after a night of drinking.

Drinks to enjoy the day after a party

The first thing to do after a night of drinking is to drink plenty of water throughout the day following the party. Alcohol dehydrates the body.

Drinking plenty of water will not only rehydrate your body, it will also help you get rid of alcohol toxins and avoid the undesirable effects of a hangover, such as headaches.

You can also drink a citrus juice (orange, lemon, grapefruit) with breakfast to fill up on vitamin C. Citric acid stimulates bile production in the liver, facilitating digestion.

You can also make your own radish or artichoke juice, reputed to « cleanse » the liver.

For the rest of the day, you can top up your glasses of water with red tea.
