The A’DAM Lookout is located in a high-rise building in the north of Amsterdam. This district, known as Overhoeks, has undergone a dazzling transformation in the space of ten years. From an industrial zone, it has become a futuristic city. The A’DAM Tower has also undergone these changes to become one of the capital’s star attractions.

This eighty-metre-high tower was designed by Dutch architect Arthur Staal. Inaugurated in 1971, it housed Shell’s corporate headquarters. In 2009, it was put out to tender by the city of Amsterdam. The idea was to give the building a new lease of life. Thanks to a partnership between local music-business players and a property company, it was transformed into a musical mecca.

In addition to the restaurant, exhibition and A’DAM Lookout, its floors now house several labels, a hotel and a nightclub. It’s to this new vocation that the tower owes its current name: Amsterdam Dance and Music (A’DAM).
