Transfert depuis l'aéroport d'Edimbourg avec le bus Airlink

Going on a trip to Scotland? Here’s how to transfer from Edinburgh airport to the city center!

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland’s leading hub and the UK’s sixth largest airport. Located 12 kilometers fromEdinburgh city center, it attracts over 10 million travelers a year. Wondering how to arrange your transfer from Edinburgh airport? Rest assured, it’s a question that even the most discerning traveler asks himself on a regular basis. And what’s more, it’s very easy: the airport has just one terminal. Generally speaking, the airport shuttle is the most practical solution, the cheapest being public buses. If you don’t speak a word of English, you’ll just have to follow the flow of travellers out of the terminal, eager to drop off their luggage at the hotel! Here are all the transport options for your transfer from Edinburgh airport.

Bus transfer

There is a plethora of bus services to and from Edinburgh Airport. The Airlink 100 line connects Edinburgh Airport with Waverley Bridge station in 25 minutes. A single ticket costs £4. 50 (approx. €5.20), while a return ticket costs £7.5. The bus runs 24 hours a day. Edinburgh airport transfers by bus are therefore the best solution: more convenient – especially if you arrive at night – faster and more economical.

You’ll find the Airlink 100 bus stop at airport stop D, in front of the arrivals hall. For transfers from Edinburgh to the airport, take the bus from Waverley station. Alternatively, line 35 connects the airport with Ocean Terminal, in the docklands district of Leith. Buses run all day, and tickets can be purchased on board from the driver for £1.50. Since June 2017, buses run 24 hours a day at a frequency of one every twelve minutes.

Tramway transfer

Inaugurated in 2014, there is only one streetcar line serving the city of Edinburgh and its airport: from the terminal, you’ll reach York Place, in the city center. The streetcar runs every day between 5:00 and 00:00. The journey takes 36-38 minutes to the terminus – York Place – and costs £6 (adult fare) and £3 (children aged 5-15). The return trip will cost £8.50 for adults and £4.50 for children. Tickets can be purchased at each stop, from the automatic ticket machines provided. The streetcar runs every 8 minutes or so, but trains become scarce in the evening.

Cab transfer

This is really, really the comfort solution to Edinburgh airport transfers, although it can be cost-effective if there are at least three of you. The cab ride to the city center takes about 25 minutes. You’ll need to pay at least £20 for the journey, but please note that fares can vary from cab to taxi.
