In fact, as the region’s leading airport, it benefits from an excellent transport network. By bus, cab or train, transferring between Genoa airport and the city center is quick and easy. As soon as you leave the terminal, you can make your choice according to your budget, timing and luggage.

The cheapest way: by train

Duration: 30-40 minutes to Brignole station.

Fares: €1.30 for the train and €2.80 for the shuttle + train.

Timetable: 5.24 a.m. to 10.12 p.m., 7 days a week.

From Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo airport, you won’t be able to board a train directly. The Sestri Ponente Aeroporto train station is not located within the airport itself. So you’ll have to take the shuttle bus or walk for a few minutes. In fact, you’ll only have to walk a few hundred meters to get to the station. If you choose to take the shuttle, you should be aware that it leaves every fifteen minutes.

Once at the railway station, you can pick up your ticket to Brignole at one of the ticket offices. A train leaves every thirty minutes or so. With this train, you’ll be in the city center in no time.

The fastest: Volabus

Duration: less than 30 minutes to Brignole-Plazza Verdi station.

Fares: Between €5 and €15, depending on whether you’re travelling alone or in a group, free for children under eight.

Times: 7 days a week, from 5 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. in the Brignole-Airport direction. From 5.50 a.m. to 0.20 a.m. in the direction Airport-Brignole station.

The Genoa airport Volabus service is provided by the Genoa transport network management company. This network includes the city’s bus lines, metro, public elevators and funiculars.

Even though Volabus is an economical solution, you’ll enjoy comfortable seats and your luggage will be safe. Note that if you book on their website, you’ll benefit from a €1 discount.

The most comfortable way: private shuttles

Don’t want to wait in line for public transport or a cab? Then opt for private shuttles. Combining comfort and availability, these shuttles allow you to relax after a long plane journey. What’s more, you’ll be sure of having a driver waiting for you in the arrivals hall at the agreed time. He’ll hold a sign and take you to his vehicle, dropping you off in front of your hotel.

You’ll find many online booking sites. However, if you turn to private transfers, the cost will be higher than those of other transfers. So find out in advance. What’s more, it’s sometimes possible for this service to be offered at a lower cost by the chosen establishment. So don’t hesitate to ask when booking your hotel.

The most available: the cab

Hours: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Cabs at Genoa’s Cristoforo Colombo airport are waiting for you directly outside the terminal. They are equipped with a meter and are available 24 hours a day. So there’s no need to book in advance. Practical, they’ll drop you off directly where you want, when you want.

They can also offer you a package to take you to the Principe or Brignole train stations. This usually costs €7 or €8 per person. However, a minimum of three passengers in the vehicle is often required.

If you don’t want to waste a minute at the airport, you can also book your cab online. Many platforms, such as TaxiTender, allow you to book a cab in advance. Once you’ve arrived at the airport, the driver will be waiting for you at the exit.

The alternative: Rent a car at Genoa airport

What better way to get around than on your own? By renting a car in Genoa, you can do away with waiting times and numerous public transport stops. You’ll be able to make your own transfers to the center, and move around the city and its surroundings as you please.

At the Terminal exit, a number of internationally renowned car rental companies await you. These include Sixt, Hertz, Budget and Europcar. However, it’s best to book online via a platform such as Rentalcars. This will enable you to compare prices, especially if you’re traveling during the school or summer holidays. Rates are often reduced if you rent for several consecutive days.

Sleeping near Genoa airport

If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to transfer between Genoa airport and the center, there are several hotels nearby. For those on a tighter budget, the Tower Genova Airport is ideally placed, just a five-minute walk away.
