La liste des meilleurs saumons à ajouter à votre liste de course !

Fish is good! Our consumption of fish has risen steadily in recent years, and that’s a good thing! However, two-thirds of our fish is imported…

Fish are good for our health, rich in high-quality protein, omega-3, phosphorus, iodine, zinc and vitamins A, D and E!

As a result, the French buy an average of 30 kg of fish per person per year, in all forms (fresh, canned, frozen…). Nevertheless, sales of fresh fish are declining, mainly due to soaring prices!

As a result, France’s star fish, salmon, has seen its price soar!

To help you choose the best salmon at an affordable price, 60 Millions de Consommateurs took a look at the fish section of supermarkets to investigate these salmon cuts!

Are the products we consume always healthy? Let’s find out!

Fewer traces of antibiotics in Norwegian salmon

According to the analysis, almost all the salmon consumed in France comes from farms, mainly in Norway and Scotland!

While the Norwegian sector has long been criticized for the health and welfare conditions of its fish, these farms have made some efforts.

In fact, they claim to have drastically reduced the use of antibiotics! Today, less than 1% of Norwegian salmon has received this treatment.

The results of the survey confirm the absence of drug residues on the 16 references in the study!

No trace of lead or cadmium

No traces of lead or cadmium were found in the salmon analyses. However, the analysis did reveal the presence of mercury in several samples, albeit in very small quantities.

Fish from Scotland are nevertheless more contaminated, but nothing dangerous to health!

Dioxins and PCBs in salmon

Dioxins and PCBs are recognized human carcinogens. Banned for many years, they persist in the aquatic environment, concentrating in the fatty tissues of fish.

However, the results of the analysis show smaller quantities that are not a health concern.

Nevertheless, these residues are more present in wild fish, and particularly in organic references. This pollution comes from the food supplied to the salmon.
