We begin this guide with an original hike to Masca. Here, there’s no need to put on your trekking shoes, as you’ll be passing by the sea! This itinerary is perfect for paddle sports. By canoe or kayak, you’ll follow Tenerife’s high rock faces. This corner of the island offers particularly beautiful relief from the ocean. In fact, this tour takes you right up close to the famous Los Gigantes cliffs, one of Tenerife’s most remarkable landscapes.

If you want to avoid the crowds, this is the activity for you, as few people do this route. You’ll be able to enjoy these panoramas at your leisure, and discover them from a unique vantage point. This linear hike to Masca starts near the small town of Buenavista del Norte. A superb route awaits you, in the heart of the Parque Rural del Teno. Between forests, mountains and spectacular viewpoints, you’ll be spoilt for choice. What’s more, this tour passes through several remote farming villages and livestock farms. It’s the perfect way to immerse yourself in the local, pastoral culture of the Canaries.

Among the landscapes you’ll pass, you’ll no doubt be intrigued by the ancient volcanic cone in the El Palmar valley. A host of panoramic views will accompany you on your walk through the Teno massif. Along the way, you’ll also have the chance to admire a variety of bird species, wildflowers and local plants. At the end of the hike, you’ll soon forget all about the elevation gain, as you reach the beautiful village of Masca.

Its unique location at the foot of a large rock is particularly photogenic. Walking to Masca is an excellent way to discover the village! After the long walk, you can take a bus back to your starting point in Buenavista del Norte. This moderately-difficult hike is a great way to explore the Teno Park through its landscapes and small towns. A real change of scenery!

This medium-difficulty loop passes through the village of Masca and combines paved roads and dirt tracks. Departing from the town of Santiago del Teide, you’ll take routes through forests, past lakes and zigzag through mountains.

During this tour, you’ll enjoy superb views of Masca and the surrounding area. There are also many spectacular views of the mountains and valleys of the Teno massif. This bike tour is a great way to discover the rich landscapes of this part of Tenerife in a single day. You can also take the route on foot, but you’ll need to allow more time and an overnight stay.

This is the most popular hike around Masca, despite its difficulty. Accessible all year round, it is only open on weekends and public holidays. It’s important to note that you’ll need to book access to the Barranco de Masca, as access is restricted. You’ll pass amazing geological formations, but also a varied flora of palms, cacti and cypresses.

This is a round trip from the charming village of Masca. It crosses superb gorges to take you to playa de Masca. If you want to walk less, you can decide to do the route in one direction only. Take a boat from Masca beach (check beforehand that this option is available).

Please note that this trail is highly regulated to protect both the environment and hikers. Hiking boots are compulsory, so don’t forget them if you don’t want to get stuck in Masca!

Set off on a fantastic hike through the Teno mountains to Masca. This route, which is considered difficult and has a high gradient, passes through a wide range of landscapes in the Tenerife landscape. In particular, you’ll follow the Cumbre de Bolico ridge. It’s an opportunity to discover a variety of viewpoints that will amaze you along the way.

Your steps will take you to the Mirador Cruz de Hilda, where you can make a short stop if you wish. A café has been set up here, the perfect place to enjoy a drink while taking in the view.

During the hike, if you’re still fit enough, don’t hesitate to make a detour up to Risco Verde. From here, you’ll enjoy a fantastic view of the surrounding area. Once in Masca, take the opportunity to visit the village and dine in one of its restaurants, before heading back in the opposite direction. Or, if you prefer, take a bus back to Santiago del Teide, your starting point.
