As you can see, your efforts will be amply rewarded. The trail starts in Canillo, one of the principality’s highest parishes. Good walking shoes are a must.

Looking for an accessible hike in Andorra? TheTristaina estanys is an ideal playground! Estany is a key term in Andorran toponymy, meaning pond.

This is the reward for this short trail, which can be walked with small children. You’ll need good shoes, however. The terrain is stony, which is what gives it that end-of-the-world feel. A refreshing change of scene during your stay!

3. The Iron Road

Head to the province of Ordino, to the Llorts mine, to start one of the best hikes in Andorra. The Iron Route is one of the principality’s most famous trails. And with good reason: it combines accessibility, nature and culture!

As you stroll along, you’ll come across numerous metal structures. You’ll have the opportunity to learn more about the Andorran metal industry, and its key role in the region’s history up to the 19th century. You’ll also come across some very interesting examples of typical architecture, such as the Romanesque church of Sant Martí de la Cortinada.

4. Le Refuge de Juclar

The trail to the Juclar refuge is one of Andorra’s most emblematic hikes. It allows you to discover the Incles valley. The shelter is open from June 1 to September 30. Outside these dates, you can book accommodation in advance.

5. Casamanya Peak

Want to admire a 360-degree panorama of the whole Principality of Andorra? The Col d’Ordino is the starting point for this superb hike. It takes you to the summit of the Casamanya peak, which rises to 2,749 meters above sea level. A true landmark of the Andorran landscape, its ascent is a must.

This hike in Andorra starts quietly in the forest. Then the climb begins. It can be quite demanding. Bring water and good walking shoes.

6. Engolasters lake – Les Fonts circuit viewpoint – Coll de Jovell

This hike in Andorra allows you to discover some of the principality’s most emblematic landscapes. First, it takes you to the Engolasters artificial lake, famous for its pleasant, accessible trail. But don’t stop there!

Head for the lookout point on the Les Fonts circuit, which offers a breathtaking view of the Pla d’Engolasters and the surrounding mountains. It’s a prime spot for birdwatching: crested tit, tree finch, crested kinglet, garden creeper, etc. Finally, the trail takes you to Coll Jovell, which rises to an altitude of 1,791 metres.

A varied and exotic hike that doesn’t require a high level of fitness.

7. Le Rec del Solà

The Rec del Solà is the name of the greenway in Andorra la Vella. It’s a flat, tree-lined path, paved in the 19th century, that can be walked by the whole family without any problems. It starts at the Sant Ermengol plateau, not far from the Romanesque bridge and the Sant Antoni de la Grella oratory. On this side, you’ll find the canal intake.

The path follows the old canal. It offers superb views of Andorra la Vella and runs alongside bucolic vegetable gardens. As you follow it, you’ll learn more about the parish’s agricultural and economic development. A refreshing interlude.

8. Coma Pedrosa

Looking for a trek in Andorra? At 2,942 meters, the Coma Pedrosa peak is the highest point in the Principality. It is a veritable viewpoint over the whole country. Needless to say, climbing it promises splendid views! But it has to be earned: the trail is for experienced hikers only. In particular, the descent requires good preparation, as it is steep and strewn with slippery rocks.

9. L’Estanys de Cabana Sorda

The ascent to the Cabana Sorda pond is without doubt one of the most beautiful hikes in Andorra. Andorra’s flora and fauna are right before your eyes, to the delight of nature lovers.

Finally, you arrive at the estany, which rises to an altitude of 2,296 metres. In high season, the site can be very crowded. But that’s just how beautiful it is! Not to mention an ideal swimming spot.

10. Pics de Montmalus and Pessons

Warning: this hike in Andorra is for experienced hikers only! Some passages are technical. You won’t need a harness, but you will need to use your hands. And that’s for around 30 minutes on the link between the two peaks. On the way down, you’ll also have to contend with a very steep slope. But it’s well worth the effort!
