South Korea’s capital is home to a host of highly original cafés.
Asia is partly known for its out-of-the-ordinary and unusual, and South Korea is no exception! Indeed, the Korean capital has become a master when it comes to opening bars and cafés, each more unusual than the last. If you’re ever in Seoul, don’t miss out on these places, which you won’t find anywhere else!
Cat bars

Let’s start with what has become a « classic » in the major capital cities (yes, there’s also one in Paris and Montpellier): the famous cat bars (or Koyangi Cafés)! There are dozens of addresses in Seoul where you can enjoy a good cup of coffee and the purr of these fur balls.
The dog bar
Already a little more original, a dog bar (or Kangaji Café) has opened in Seoul. It’s called Bau House. As with cats, the idea is to spend a little time with these affectionate pets, in a city where it’s not really customary to adopt them.
The Hello Kitty bar
For a glimpse into the kitschy side of Asia, a Hello Kitty bar is an absolute must when visiting a major Asian capital! Here, everything is candy-pink and in the effigy of this little cat: right down to your café, where the baristas have perfected their latte art to represent Hello Kitty in your café latte.

This time, no more pets! We’re taking a trip to the countryside with Thanks Nature café, located in the heart of Seoul, which is home to a dozen sheep, much to the delight of the locals! A sure sign of the need for greenery and nature, this bar is atypical, to say the least!
The camping café
Go and find out why… There is indeed a camping café in Seoul, where you can spend time in a tent, sitting on small camping chairs chatting with friends and feeling as if you’ve left the noisy capital for a moment. The establishment also offers a daily barbecue, to add to the convivial side of camping.
All that’s left to do is visit one of Seoul’s many unusual cafés!
