Vision of Humanity and measuring « peace » by country

So which countries are the most « peaceful », and how is this index calculated? Vision of Humanity is a kind of world peace observatory. By collecting data from each country, it ranks them according to various criteria.

For the moment, only three countries are available on a regional scale: the United States, the United Kingdom and Mexico.

Please note that this ranking does not determine where we live best or who is happiest, but who is or isn’t participating in world peace on a global scale!

You can get an overview of the « Global Peace Index » with the ranking of each country, which takes into account the following criteria:

On the site, you’ll find a wealth of explanations and news on what’s happening in the countries of the world today. As well as the history of the Global Peace Index since 2008.

If you look closely at this ranking, you’ll see that countries such as France and Italy, and especially the USA and China, rank quite low, if not very low. This reflects the fact that countries like France take part in many conflicts and import or export a lot of weapons around the world.

We can see countries like Brazil, the United States and many other « developed » countries at the bottom of the rankings, even though they are economically very strong. This is indeed a paradox in a country like Brazil, where urban violence is rife and people are sometimes afraid to venture into a particular city! Carrying arms in the USA is also a major factor in the country’s fall in the rankings, not to mention the militarization and wars in which the country is engaged…
