Street art by French artist Patrick Commecy to liven up the dreary facades of towns and villages!
French artist Patrick Commecy and his team of muralists transform dull, boring facades across France into dynamic tableaux full of life. His hyper-realistic paintings of windows, balconies and roof tiles look just like they might in a charming village or neighborhood. On balconies or « en plein air », Commecy often incorporates famous and influential figures from the history of the town where the trompe-l’oeil is painted.
The trompe-l’œil above is on a facade in Montpellier, at 33 rue Balard in Parc Clémenceau. The figures in the painting are all from Montpellier, and have all been famous for something. Antoine-Jérôme Balard, for example, was the discoverer of bromine and a pioneering amateur photographer. Juliette Gréco was a singer and actress.

On the side of the first Bureau des Guides, 20 of the most famous mountaineering pioneers, painted in trompe-l’oeil, find the view of Mont Blanc.
The photo below shows a beautiful angled facade in Levallois, but what’s impressive is that the tree is part of the trompe-l’oeil.
