We recommend a hike up to the Cristo Rei to discover Lisbon in a unique way. To make the most of this experience, we recommend setting off early in the morning to admire the sunrise over the city. The unobstructed view of theTagus estuary and Lisbon from the Cristo Rei is well worth the effort.

You’ll need to get to Cais do Sodré to start the hike, and then take a ferry across the Tagus to Cacilhas. From here, you’ll begin the ascent to Cristo Rei. Once at the top, you can admire the statue of Christ the King, which resembles Rio de Janeiro’s Christ the Redeemer, while enjoying panoramic views over the city.

Note, however, that this hike may require a good level of physical fitness, but it’s well worth it to enjoy the beauty of Lisbon from above!
