Want to discover the Dead Sea? Then here are Jerusalem’s most beautiful beaches!

A holy city for all three monotheistic religions, Jerusalem is a must-see destination for history buffs. But the city is also close to an astonishing body of water: the Dead Sea.

Known for its high salinity, it is a delight for experienced swimmers, who can hang naturally in the water. But the sea is also renowned for its health benefits. Surrounded by mountains, it’s a must-see when visiting Jerusalem.

Would you like to take a dip in the Dead Sea and enjoy its benefits and amazing properties? In this article, we’ll show you the most beautiful beaches near Jerusalem!

1. Kalia

From Jerusalem, three beautiful beaches stand side by side. The first and closest to Jerusalem is Kalia. It’s just a 25-minute drive from Jerusalem. Kalia Beach is a typical Dead Sea beach, with excellent facilities, a restaurant and bar, changing rooms and towel hire. Here, you can relax on the shores of the Dead Sea, bathe and slather yourself in natural mud.

At Kalia Beach, you’ll find mainly international tourists keen to discover the astonishing expanse of salt water that is the Dead Sea. For a more local feel, we recommend the second beach on our list.

2. Biankini

As mentioned above, Biankini is a neighbouring beach to Kalia. It lies just to the south of Kalia. Biankini beach attracts mainly local tourists and families. It takes the form of a Moroccan-style oasis and seaside resort.

It’s a very pleasant place, with a traditional Moroccan restaurant, a beautiful beach where you can relax and enjoy the salty waters of the Dead Sea. Just be sure to avoid it during vacation periods in Israel. The beach is then crowded and the experience can be less pleasant.

3. Neve Midbar

The last beach on our list is Neve Midbar. Neighboring the previous two, it is surely the youngest and most authentic. Many locals come here to party, have fun and enjoy themselves in a beautiful setting.

Would you like to enjoy a slightly festive atmosphere? Then we recommend you come to Neve Midbar Beach for a swim, a drink and why not make friends with other travelers.

In addition to the beach, you’ll find a few stretches of lawn with barbecues and a bar. Neve Midbar Beach, though young and comfortable, is surely the least commercial and least crowded of Jerusalem’s three beaches. We highly recommend it!

Unfortunately, with the exception of the three beaches mentioned above, the other famous Dead Sea beaches are closed due to sinkholes. These are dangerous holes formed along the shoreline. We therefore recommend that you avoid the beaches of Ein Gedi and Mineral Beach, which are currently closed.

However, it is still possible to enjoy the beautiful scenery and unique atmosphere of Ein Gedi. Ein Gedi is an oasis and ancient town on the western shore of the Dead Sea, south of the beaches mentioned above. Nowadays, it is primarily a seaside resort, known for its few hotels offering spa treatments on the shores of the Dead Sea.

You can visit the Ein Gedi Dead Sea Hot Springs for a charming spa treatment. Take a dip in some of the natural pools.

For a more luxurious experience, you can also spend a day or even a few days at a spa. You can then visit Ein Gedi, its nature reserve and the shores of the Dead Sea. You’ll enjoy stunning desert landscapes and incredible views!

Now you’ve got everything you need for a swim in Jerusalem’s most beautiful beaches – and it’s up to you!
