To come to this conclusion, the scientists based themselves on a long-term study, the Japan Collaborative Cohort Study for Evaluation of Cancer Risk, involving over 6,750 men and more than 12,000 women.

According to the results, the risk of cardiovascular disease was found in people who consumed two or more cups of coffee and whose systolic blood pressure was equal to or greater than 160.

To understand, Hiroyasu Iso, professor at Osaka University and lead author of the study, explains:  » As people with severe hypertension are more sensitive to the effects of caffeine, the harmful effects of caffeine may outweigh its protective effects and increase the risk of death « .

One cup of coffee a day is not dangerous
