As mentioned above, Formentera has no airport. The best and cheapest way to reach it is by ferry. Like Ibiza, Formentera can also be reached by car, van or camper van. The Balearic archipelago can even be a stopover on a longer road-trip across Spain.
If you want to go to Formentera by ferry, Ibiza is one of the best departure points. Several companies offer crossings between the two Pityuse islands: Balearia, Aquabus, Mediterranea Pitiusa or Trasmapi. The journey generally takes between 25 and 60 minutes, depending on the point of departure and arrival in Ibiza. This destination is served all year round. Several crossings take place each day, often in the morning for Ibiza – Formentera and in the late afternoon for Formentera – Ibiza.
It’s also possible to reach tranquil Formentera from the island of Mallorca. You can also sail directly to the island from ports on the Spanish coast, such as Barcelona, Dénia or Gandia.

How do I book a ferry to Formentera from Ibiza?

As with any trip, we recommend you book your ferry tickets in advance. During the summer months, or at the last minute, ferry prices fluctuate rapidly upwards. To get to Formentera from Ibiza by ferry, prices generally range from €40 to €50 per person (round trip). Last-minute or summer prices, however, can exceed €60 or even reach €100 per person.
If you’re traveling with your own vehicle, you should expect to pay between €80 and €200 for a round-trip crossing. This depends on the type of vehicle and the number of passengers. Thanks to Direct Ferries, you can easily compare crossings and book the most convenient route in advance.
