But taking the time to eat is also a priority! However, when you’ve got a busy day ahead, it can sometimes be difficult to relax and eat!

Mindful eating is important!

Mindful eating is crucial to our well-being. It means paying total attention to each bite, feeling the flavours and textures!

Mindful eating allows us to recognize our hunger and satiety signals and to better appreciate food! Mindfulness also promotes efficient digestion and prevents overeating!

Our brains like routine, and need to eat at fixed times. The best thing to do is to sit down in a place dedicated to lunch breaks, preferably one that’s not too noisy!

For example, don’t eat in front of your computer or phone! Why not? Because when you’re surfing the web or checking your e-mail, you’re not eating mindfully!

The result? You’re not paying attention to what you eat, either in terms of taste or quantity!

What’s more, it’s essential to take your time chewing your food, because digestion begins in the mouth! If you don’t take the time to chew, you’re guaranteed to have a nose dive!

The number of calories consumed must be limited!

According to The National Institute of Health,  » a calorie is a unit of measurement that describes the amount of energy released when your body breaks down food » . Whether you’re a man or a woman, active or not at all sporty, there’s a calorie count to respect!

For a woman who :

  • Not physically active: 1,600 calories a day,
  • Is moderately active: 1,800 calories a day,
  • Is active: 2,000 to 2,200 calories a day.

For a man who :

  • Not physically active: 2,000 to 2,200 calories a day,
  • Is moderately active: 2,200 to 2,400 calories a day,
  • Is active: 2,400 to 2,600 calories a day.

It takes 35 to 50 minutes to eat well

To ensure optimal digestion, we recommend that you devote between 35 and 50 minutes to each meal!

This time will allow you to eat slowly and consciously, savouring each mouthful so that you’re aware of your satiety signals!
