Belfast’s 4 best restaurants

Restaurant à Belfast

The beautiful city of Belfast, capital of Northern Ireland, is home to some exceptional restaurants not to be missed. Here are 4 places to eat in Belfast.

When I arrived in Belfast, I realized that most locals ate takeaway food, such as fish and chips or other Marks & Spencer ready meals. While it’s obviously possible to eat on the go in Belfast, the city hides some real treasures rich in variety. Here are four addresses that I consider to be the 4 best restaurants in Belfast.

1. Cuban Sandwich Factory

Simple sandwiches? No, the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. They’re incredible, the bread is crusty, they’re generously filled, the fries are unbelievably good and the place has its own little charm. Don’t miss the Sloppy Joe with barbecue sauce! There are also vegetarian options. You can take them away or enjoy them on the spot.

Sandwich price: £5.50 on average

Address: 29-31 Fountain St, Belfast

2. Umi Falafel

Looking for a place to eat vegetarian but generous, this place won us over. It’s a modern local in South Belfast where you can eat sandwiches, falafels and hummus to die for. The portions are extremely generous, so it’s impossible to leave this place hungry. This Belfast restaurant serves varied, flavorful cuisine.

3. Mourne Sea Food bar

For seafood lovers, this is the place for you. A small menu with an absolutely delicious choice of fish and seafood. This restaurant in downtown Belfast is very pleasant and welcoming, with generous portions and everything fresh.

For an à la carte dish, expect to pay around £13.

In this restaurant you’ll find a wide range of Asian dishes prepared with great taste and expertise. You can enjoy curries, sushi and other specialties. It’s a small, extremely welcoming restaurant, with a very smiling staff. You’ll find it right in the center of town, on a very small street. Another plus point: I have it on good authority that the hygiene here is beyond reproach.
