Serums, creams and beauty treatments: while it’s possible to prevent the effects of time with targeted cosmetic products, skin health depends above all on a healthy, balanced diet.
Even if many of us try to camouflage the effects of ageing with make-up, cosmetic treatments or a targeted wellness routine, we can’t stop time and stay young forever.
While the battle against old age may be lost in advance, it is possible to delay the appearance of the first wrinkles or reduce the signs of ageing by watching your diet.
Foods rich in vitamins and antioxidant trace elements are the best choice if you want to restore your skin’s suppleness and radiance. Here are 8 foods recognized as anti-aging allies!
Wheat germ
Despite its small size, wheat germ is packed with nutrients and vitamins. Full of fiber, complex carbohydrates, minerals and proteins, it is one of the richest foods in phytosterols, plant compounds that act against cholesterol.
Two tablespoons of wheat germ a day is enough to cover a third of the recommended daily intake of vitamin E, which is very useful for protecting skin cells against premature ageing.
The nuts
Like other oilseeds, walnuts have real anti-aging properties. Not only are they loaded with vitamin E, but they’re also rich in zinc and omega-3 fatty acids, which combat sagging skin.
Consumed regularly, they also improve cognitive performance over the long term.
Kiwi fruit
In a fruit salad, buddha bowl or smoothie, kiwi is a powerful antioxidant, thanks in particular to its high vitamin E content.
It helps combat the appearance of free radicals (caused by pollution, UV rays, tobacco, stress and alcohol), thereby limiting skin aging.
Orange
Oranges, like all citrus fruits, are also ideal for firm, youthful, regenerated skin.
Citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, and stimulate collagen production to promote cell repair.
The tomato
As well as giving a lovely tanned complexion, thanks to its content of carotenoids, plant pigments responsible for tissue coloration, tomatoes help the skin to regenerate and protect itself from external aggression.
This is also the case for other orange fruits and vegetables, such as sweet potatoes, melons, apricots, pumpkins and, of course, carrots.
Chocolate
Here’s a good excuse not to deprive yourself of chocolate!
In fact, consumed in small doses, it becomes a true anti-ageing ally, a quality it owes in particular to its high mineral content, which promotes the repair of skin tissue and slows down skin ageing.
Please note that we’re talking about dark chocolate, not milk or white.
The liver
Liver is one of the healthiest foods you can eat. Rich in vitamins A and B, as well as trace elements and folates, it helps the body to regenerate itself, so it’s perfect if you want to embark on a detox.
Excellent for the skin, it protects against skin infections such as psoriasis and eczema.
Oily fish
Salmon, mackerel, trout, anchovies, sardines or even herring – don’t hesitate to include oily fish in your diet. Packed with omega-3s, they protect the skin from inflammation, which can dry out the epidermis.
As a result, skin is better hydrated and more elastic.
