Our first tour of Vietnam begins with arrival at the airport in Hanoi, the country’s capital. You’ll have the opportunity to visit Hanoi, including Ho Chi Minh’s mausoleum, the Temple of Literature and the Museum of Ethnography. You’ll then head for Ninh Binh and the ancient capital Hoa Lu, before exploring the Tam Coc caves. The next day, you’ll head for sublime Halong Bay, which you’ll cross aboard a comfortable traditional junk.

After a transfer to the town of Hoi An, with its streets lit up by thousands of lanterns, you’ll embark on a countryside bike ride through rice paddies and picturesque villages. Our second customized tour of Vietnam begins in the northwestern mountain town of Bac Ha. You’ll begin a walking tour to meet the Mong ethnic group, before visiting a typical regional market. A half-day hike takes you through fields and rice paddies before spending the night with local people. The next day, you’ll reach the fascinating village of Luoc, with its houses built on stilts.

After a transfer to Nam Hong, you’ll begin a trek through forest and villages in the heart of sumptuous landscapes. You’ll then head for Quan Ba and the high stone plateau of Dông Van. You’ll then drive along the mountain range to the former home of the Hmong king. After an overnight stay at the hotel, we head for Ha Giang, a stopover village before arriving in Hanoi. After a triumphant arrival at Hanoi airport and a visit to the country’s capital, head for Lao Cai. You’ll reach this northern town by a comfortable, air-conditioned night train. Then it’s off to the picturesque Bac Ha market. The village and its traditional houses are well worth a visit. Then on to Sa Pa, a village close to the Chinese border, with its immense rice terraces.

You’ll catch a glimpse of Mount Phan Si Pan, which dominates the Indochinese peninsula from a height of 3,143 metres.
