The Spin Valley Velorail

Discover the region in an original way by opting for a sporty and fun activity: the velorail! Follow the old salt line through the unspoilt Moselle countryside. It was once used to transport this commodity nicknamed « the white gold of the Saulnois ». Starting from Dieuze station, there are two circuits to choose from: the Circuit des Explorateurs, a 24km ride on an electric velorail lasting 4 hours, with a picnic stop in the Benestroff forest, or the Circuit du Spin, a 14km ride through the countryside on a classic velorail.

The Explorers’ Route takes you along the entire Dieuze – Bénestroff line, passing through the former industrial site of Les Salines and crossing fields and forests. You’ll even take in the historic 115 m Guebling tunnel! The Circuit du Spin is perfect for families looking for a leisurely stroll through the unspoilt Moselle countryside. This moderate family activity will allow you to discover the charms of the Pays Saulnois in an original way.

Open from May to October, the electric velorail is a very popular activity, with large crowds in good weather. To be sure of enjoying this experience with your family, don’t hesitate to reserve your places in advance.

The Musée des Techniques Faïencières and the Moulin de la Blies

The Sainte Croix wildlife park in Rhodes

The Parc Animalier de Sainte-Croix in Alsace-Lorraine is also a must-see during your stay in the region. Since its opening in 1980, it has become a benchmark for the discovery and presentation of French wildlife, as well as for the safeguarding of endangered species worldwide.

Located in Rhodes, less than 20 minutes from Sarrebourg, this 120-hectare park offers 5 different themed worlds: the New World, Neo’s Journey, the European Animal Trail, the History of Wolves and Gérald’s Farm. The park is huge: it’s home to over 1,500 animals, including bears, bison, lynx, lemurs, red pandas and several wolf packs ! The advantage is that the animals live in semi-liberty and can therefore be observed at close quarters.

On site, several discovery trails lead you through the different worlds, and you can choose to explore the park on foot or by safari-train. To extend your adventure, you can even sleep on site in eco-labelled lodges: you’ll be as close as possible to the animals. If you’re interested in the park, it’s open every day from late March to mid-November. Don’t miss this opportunity to discover nature and animals in a whole new light.
