4 wellness experiences to try in Paris

Bien-être à Paris 3

Fancy a moment of relaxation in our beloved capital? Then take a look at our selection of unusual experiences to try in Paris.

Dynamic and bustling, Paris is a city where there’s never a dull moment. Museums, monuments, stores, events, it offers an unparalleled range of activities and discoveries. With its rich history and diverse transformations, the « City of Lights » today is a delightful blend of different atmospheres, from luxurious districts to more popular arrondissements.

But if you’d like to enjoy the capital from another, perhaps more relaxed, angle, Paris also offers a range of wellness activities: cryotherapy, beer baths, flotation or photobiomodulation, it’s up to you to choose how you’d like to spend this unique moment. What’s more, it’s good for morale! However, in the Parisian jungle, it’s not easy to find your way around. To make things easier for you, we’ve selected 4 unusual experiences to try out in Paris.

Cryotherapy

A boosting experience

  • 👍 Number of participants: from 1 to 6
  • Duration: 1h
  • 🧭 Required age : 16 and over
  • 📍 Location: Paris 1er
  • 💙 We love: the energy of this short but extreme moment

Cryotherapy is the first wellness experience we’ve selected in Paris. This activity has many virtues. Among other things, it promotes recovery after a sports session, improves tissue healing and soothes skin problems. But it can also be practiced simply for the pleasure and relaxation it brings.

First, you head for the changing room to change into your underwear or swimsuit. Then put on gloves and socks designed for extreme temperatures. And off you go for 3 minutes in the freezing cold! Of course, you’re allowed a brief moment of warmth to relax. But then the atmosphere in the tank drops to -120 degrees. The experience may be brief, but it’s intense.

The wellness center is located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris, a chic district with a number of monuments. After a session of cryotherapy, you’ll be ready for a visit to the Louvre Museum, the Tuileries Gardens, the Palais-Royal or a stroll along the Haussmann boulevards.

Beer Spa

A moment that combines well-being and tasting

  • 👍 Number of participants: from 1 to 3
  • Duration: 1h
  • 🧭 Required age : 18 and over
  • 📍 Location: Paris 6e
  • 💙 We like: relaxing in a bath while sipping a beer

Did you ever think you’d take a dip in a beer bath? That’s the concept behind the Beer Spa. An experience in which you are immersed in a carved oak vat, filled with warm water to which beer components have been added: hops, malt and yeast. Each of these elements provides a range of benefits, from skin and nail care to an anti-fatigue effect.

The room in which the session takes place is entirely private: bathtubs, a lounge and a shower with beer-based cosmetics are at your disposal. You can listen to your playlists via a Bluetooth system or watch videos on a screen. And best of all: a beer tapping machine is accessible from your tank. Heineken on tap! We still recommend ordering a charcuterie and/or cheese board to go with it.

To make the most of this wellness activity in Paris, we recommend that you arrive 20 minutes before your treatment is due to start. Be sure to bring a bathing suit. Towels and bathrobes are provided on site.

Floating in sensory isolation

A moment of meditation in the water

  • 👍 Number of participants: from 1 to 6
  • Duration: 1h
  • 🧭 Required age : from 14 years old
  • 📍 Location: Paris 13e
  • 💙 We love: the feeling of fullness as the body floats.

Floatation is a proven and highly effective relaxation method. For 1 hour, you bathe in water maintained at body temperature. Epsom salt, present in large quantities in the liquid, allows you to float. This mineral salt has been used for centuries to relieve muscle and joint pain.

This moment of relaxation takes place in sensory isolation. You are protected from external stimuli. Cut off from noise, you find yourself in an almost meditative state. You naturally enter a state of deep physical and mental rest. What’s more, theweightlessness of floating makes you feel light, free from the weight of your body. Let go and reconnect!

Your Paris wellness session ends with a shower and a moment of relaxation with a hot drink in the relaxation corner. Afterwards, you have two options: a siesta or a visit to the surrounding area. The nearby François Mitterrand library and Parc de Bercy are both worth a visit.

Photobiomodulation

A red light with many benefits

  • 👍 Number of participants: 1
  • Duration: 15 min
  • 🧭 Required age : 16 and over
  • 📍 Location: Paris 17e
  • 💙 We like: the originality of this unique activity

Photobiomodulation is a rather unusual treatment technique. In a small, minimally decorated room, you are placed in front of a red light panel. Your body will be able to regenerate itself thanks to this cold, pulsed light. The rays of these infrared LEDs penetrate your tissues and stimulate your cells. This not only improves your sporting performance, but also oxygenates your blood. The benefits of this technology are many, and the results are almost immediate.

A session at this Paris wellness institute lasts just 15 minutes, which is handy if you’re in a hurry or planning to do some sightseeing. The 17th arrondissement is quite eclectic, allowing you to discover lesser-known Parisian monuments. The Musée National Jean-Jacques-Henner, home to 19th-century portraits, is well worth a visit. Take the time to stroll through the narrow streets of the Batignolles district, with its host of bohemian boutiques.

You now have all the information you need to enjoy original and unique relaxation experiences. The hardest part is choosing… or not. After all, why not try out these 4 wellness centers in Paris? Tell us all about it in the comments.
