24 pieces of equipment and furniture you need to rent your apartment on Airbnb

Do you own a seasonal rental property on Airbnb? Here’s the equipment and furniture you need to rent out your apartment on Airbnb!

Seasonal travelers are a tricky bunch. They often leave their own country to spend a few days or weeks in yours, for business or pleasure, so it’s important to build their loyalty and make them feel at home once they’re with you.

To that end, here’s a rundown of the 24 pieces of equipment and furniture you need to rent out your apartment on Airbnb.

1. A cosy bed

The quality of our sleep influences the quality of our days, our weekends and, inevitably, our travels. As a result, every seasonal tenant should be treated like a king in this respect. There’s absolutely no question here of spending crazy amounts of money to install the most expensive bed on the market in your seasonal accommodation, but of choosing the best compromise between price and quality.

For good quality bedding, opt for cotton sheets and wool comforters. Go one step further and provide your seasonal tenant with spare bedding in case of a problem.

When it comes to colors and patterns, let your imagination run wild, without going for overly dark tones or confusing patterns. It’s best to create a certain harmony between the bedding and the decor of your Airbnb.

2. Curtains

Every self-respecting home needs curtains for its windows. They have a dual role: firstly, decorative, since curtains – in terms of material, color or pattern – are excellent accessories for adding a touch of panache to your interior.

The second function of curtains is security – or at least visual security – as they limit the visibility people outside have of the interior of your home. In short, curtains increase the privacy of your seasonal tenants.

3. A hob/stove

The heart of the home is unquestionably the kitchen. After the living room or the garden, it’s the place where we spend the most time. The kitchen must therefore be as well-equipped as possible to ensure that your seasonal tenants enjoy a pleasant stay.

The standard in the kitchen is, of course, the hob or stove. Absolutely avoid auxiliary cooking devices such as stoves. A hob or stove is premium equipment that makes your home more pleasant to live in. This will undoubtedly influence the number of reservations. And more bookings mean more income for the host.

4. An oven/microwave

Another must-have kitchen appliance is the microwave. First introduced in the 60s, this appliance has become as indispensable as it is indispensable in the kitchen.

It would be a mistake to deprive your tenants of this service, and they may not book your home again in the future. So be prepared to spend a few dozen euros on a microwave.

A pizza, a piece of baguette, a dish that’s too cold… just a few seconds in the microwave and everyone’s happy and at the table! Think about it!

5. A refrigerator

Seasonal travelers usually pack clothes and a few accessories. During their stay, however, they will almost certainly buy food.

Where are they going to keep them if there’s no fridge in your Airbnb accommodation? So make the effort, to put your guests at ease, to acquire a refrigerator.

6. Dishwashing

As we so aptly mentioned above, seasonal renters rarely travel with anything other than their clothes. So they’ll need to find everything they’ll need during their stay in their Airbnb accommodations.

As well as the essential hob/stove, you need crockery. Where is your tenant going to eat if you don’t provide a few ready-to-use plates?

7. A dishwasher

After you’ve eaten, of course, the dishes have to be washed, and no one likes to find themselves scrubbing plates; least of all a guest who’s supposed to be having a pleasant vacation in your Airbnb accommodation.

So a dishwasher is definitely not an unnecessary investment, especially in the long term.

8. An electric kettle

In addition to the refrigerator and dishwasher, the kitchen of an Airbnb accommodation must include small appliances. Equipment in this category includes an electric kettle, which can be used for practically anything that requires hot water: coffee, tea…

Think about it.

9. A coffee machine

Coffee lovers will always choose a home with a coffee machine over one without. This will always save them a few euros that they could have spent in a restaurant or café to consume the precious beverage.

But don’t invest too much in a Tassimo: a standard machine capable of making good coffee will do the trick.

10. A washing machine

As well as doing the dishes, no one wants to find themselves scrubbing their clothes in the bathroom while on vacation. The other solution for seasonal travelers is to use dry cleaners, dry cleaners or a laundromat.

To enhance your tenants’ stay, why not simply install a tiny washing machine in your Airbnb accommodation? This equipment will always be a welcome addition to a property that lacks one.

11. Shelves and storage space

Shelves and storage space give your guests plenty of room to store their belongings. So don’t forget to include a few in your Airbnb accommodation, including a closet and a few shelves in the living room, kitchen, hallway and why not in the bathroom.

However, for the safety of your tenants, only choose storage equipment with rounded, not sharp, edges.

12. Vacuum cleaner

A broom or duster is fine, but a vacuum cleaner is much better. Cleaning with a vacuum cleaner (with or without a bag) is much more pleasant for anyone than sweeping a house on vacation.

All the more so as vacuum cleaners are becoming less and less expensive.

13. Hot water at home

The winter vacations are the most demanding for both the tenant and the owner of an Airbnb property. The heating bill must be anticipated, whether the system is powered by electricity or natural gas.

However, some tenants may, in addition to central heating, wish to take a bath with hot water. So it’s a good idea to install hot water in your Airbnb.

14. Tables & chairs

The comfort of a home depends on whether or not it has furniture worthy of the name. However, don’t spend thousands of euros on designer furniture or top-of-the-range Italian models: go for the simple stuff, i.e. chairs and tables.

15. Safety equipment

The safety of your tenants must come first. So make sure you include a few safety features, such as an intercom, a surveillance camera (to which they will have access during their stay) or even a smoke detector, to name but a few.

16. The iron

It would be inconceivable for a guest to walk around town with wrinkled clothes. Since they don’t have to walk around with an iron, install one in your Airbnb accommodation to provide that little extra comfort.

17. Hair dryer

This equipment is always a hit with female guests. Don’t overlook the hairdryer, which can be one of the added values of your Airbnb accommodation!

18. A television

As an entertainment and information tool, a television is a must-have piece of equipment when renting out your apartment on Airbnb. Preferably a flat-screen TV.

Here too, you don’t need to spend a lot of money on one of the latest models with 4K resolution: an LCD, plasma or LED will do the trick.

19. Access to international channels/streaming

If you’ve subscribed to an Internet and TV package for your home, it’s ideal for your tenants, who will be able to access international channels.

When it comes to entertainment, too, channels from a box set will suffice. However, access to a streaming service such as Netflix or Hulu and CanalPlay will always do the trick.

20. Free, high-quality WiFi

Whether you’re checking email, looking online to see what sites and places to visit nearby, or simply spending time on a video call with loved ones, a good-quality Internet connection will always be a staple of Airbnb accommodation.

21. A welcome basket

To impress your tenants, offer them a welcome basket as soon as they enter your Airbnb accommodation. Don’t break the bank: a few local specialties and fruits will be enough to give them the little touch of attention that few Airbnb owners offer.

The effect is guaranteed and will help keep these tenants coming back for sure.

22. Electrical adapters and chargers

A traveler from the UK will certainly not be able to use the charger on his smartphone in France, simply because standards and connections are not the same.

So make sure you have adapters and electrical chargers in your home, just in case.

23. Board games

There’s no better way to entertain two, three or four people than with board games. Go for the classics, such as Scrabble or Monopoly. A card game may also be more than enough.

24. Books

Vacations aren’t just about wandering around town or spending most of your time sipping coconut cocktails on the beach. It’s also about taking the time to do things we don’t normally have time for, like reading books.

Place a small collection of literary classics in your living room and you’ll be well on your way to boosting the quality of your tenants’ stay, as well as the comments they leave on your Airbnb listing.
